FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions or Concerns

1) Do I need a certification to work in this industry?

Yes. To buy, sell or work with refrigerants, an HVAC technician must be certified. The Environmental Protection Agency test on the proper use and handling of refrigerants is administered at ETI.

2) What is the difference between your school and a junior college?

Environmental Technical Institute is a vocational trade school that specializes in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration. Everything you learn at ETI is strictly related to this trade. In addition, because ETI specializes in one field, our placement department concentrates on only one industry. This is why our placement department is so successful in finding employment for our graduates. All of our efforts are directed in one area.

3) After graduation, can ETI assist me in finding employment out- of-state?

Yes. ETI has an outstanding job placement department. We have assisted in helping many graduates find employment in different states. Please request to meet with the job placement coordinator, who can elaborate on this subject, when you tour the campus.

4) Does ETI offer tutoring?

Yes. Tutoring is offered before and after school at no additional cost.

5) Does the school offer refresher courses after I graduate?

Yes. An ETI graduate may audit any class previously taken for no charge. For further alumni benefits, please click on the Placement link.

6) Do you offer housing?

ETI does not offer housing, however, we do know of local property companies and single furnished rooms in the area. The admissions department will be able to assist you when you tour.

7) Can ETI assist me in applying for student government loans?

Yes. ETI has a financial aid department to advise, administer and service the student throughout his or her training.

8) I make too much money to receive federal student loans. What other options do I have?

Credit history or amount of income does not deny you federal loans. A Financial Aid representative will be able to familiarize you with the student Federal Financial Aid Program when you visit our campus.

9) Can I use my Veteran's or IETC/WIA money to pay for tuition?

Yes. If you were in the military, were discharged in the last 10 years, and paid into the Montgomery Bill, you may use your Veteran's money to pay for your education.  In addition, ETI accepts WIA and IETC payments.
